The Dead Johnnys have been Madison's Premier tribute to seminal punk group The Clash since 2019. Formed when veteran Madison rocker/brewer Jim Goronson (guitar) and Madison transplant punk Travis Burleson (bass) bonded over Jim's delightful beers at The Parched Eagle brewery. Few things are more punk rock or Wisconsin than beer. They were then joined by fellow brewery patron Eric Sweet (guitar) and completed by local pinball wizard/metalhead/scary clown Buddha (drums). Since then The Dead Johnnys, named for The Clash's track "English Civil War", have been rocking the Madison, WI area like it's London circa 1978 playing The Clash's hits and deep cuts as well as other seminal punk tracks.
