Alex White & The Friends, Lamphouse Blue

Doors 7PM / Show 8PM

$10ADV / $15DOS

Best known as a founding member of the Midwest Jam/Funk band Pine Travelers, songwriter & guitarist Alex White has played in dozens of bands in his 20 year career as a professional musician. Prior to Pine Travelers, White was a founding member of the bands 4th Coast and Elf Lettuce. During those years, he toured much of the U.S. extensively and had the privilege of being the weekly opening act for Clyde Stubblefield, the legendary “Funky drummer” for James Brown and many other artists. With a wealth of experience under his belt, White has become a competent band leader, performing regularly as a solo artist and curating a rotating backing band to perform shows as Alex White & The Friends, as well as organizing an annual tribute to The Band’s “Last Waltz” concert.

His touring band, Alex White & The Friends, put on a high-energy live show featuring soaring dual lead guitar harmonies, chest-thumping bass grooves and dynamic rhythms. The band’s love of diverse musical styles shines through in their songwriting, as they weave Funk, Rock, Folk, Alt. Country, Hip Hop, and World Music flavors into their sound. With an affinity for improvisation, the band often extends their songs live, making performances unique from show to show, an irresistible formula that captivates audiences and keeps them coming back for more! With a new music release slated for 2024, they’re quickly proving to be a funky, multi-genre force that stays busy creating plenty of new art.

Over the years, Alex has had the opportunity to perform with award-winning artists like Billy Strings, Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown), Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), Vince Herman and Drew Emmitt, (Leftover Salmon) among others!

Between his 3 previous bands, he’s released   three albums and three EP’s, and played over 2,000 shows over the past 20 years.

Lamphouse Blue began as a studio music project led by Joshua Alley planting the seeds of heartfelt melodies into lush sonic textures. Joined by Philip Smithburg the music took root in diverse genres, drawing on deeper influences to catalyze its growth. The music truly blossomed with the addition of clever cinematic drum stylizings and elevating energetic grooves provided by Logan Grahn. The lamp is symbolic of the light of awareness and inspiration, the house is the soul and blue embodies the vastness of consciousness.
