Bent Antenna sprung forth from a 2018 Lou Barlow backyard show which featured Matt Earley ( Winn Dixie, The Delicate Delegate) and Christian Andy Grooms as the opening duet. Earley remarked that the duet was looking for a bassist, which elicited an enthusiastic response from attendee Lisa Marine (The Quickies, Noah John). They soon after enlisted drummer Dan Hobson (of Killdozer, as we all know). Bent Antenna have since spewed forth a blend of melodic power pop, fast rock and roll, and a bit of psychedelia paired with vocal harmonies and powerful lyrics. And FUN.
Born on the banks of the mighty Yahara, The Apologists came into being as the new millennium began. Many hours spent in basements with furrowed brows and bleeding fingers, they worked on a sound. Drawing from influences diverse as Johnny Cash to Johnny Thunders; P.J. Harvey to Dolly Parton; Gram Parsons to the Gang of Four. They crafted the sound and labeled it "garage country". Although. after 22 years of performances with hundreds of songs, both originals and covers that label seems limiting. They've played hundreds of shows both locally and throughout the midwest.and they have two recordings under their belt. With a strong following, the quartet plays driving, engaging music.with excellent guitar, a powerful rhythm section and some (sweet)harmonies You won't be sorry to see The Apologists. Just the opposite.
