Christo has released multiple recordings under his own name. Café Allongé showcases both his musicianship and arranging skills on a collection of his his original compositions. His Antique Aloha series of releases is inspired by some of his favorite vintage Hawaiian and lap steel guitar centric 78 RPM records. Christo's newest recording, "Get Under The Moon," further refines his arranging depth, instrumental range, and performance prowess as a recording artist.
Since the beginning of his career Christo has had extensive performance experience. His music has taken him across the United States and as far away from home as Bangalore, India! His groups have performed with rave reviews in many settings including large music festivals, concerts, performing arts theaters, and night clubs. He is as as comfortable on the festival stage as he is at an intimate living room house concert.
"Get Under The Moon" is his fourth full-length multitrack solo record. It explores 1910s-1940s Hawaiian, Jazz, Novelty, Ragtime, and Global steel guitar and ukulele repertoire sourced from some of his favorite 78 RPM records. He play all the instruments you'll hear on the recording, including Steel Guitar, Ukulele, Resonator and Hot Club Guitars, Baritone Guitar, Plectrum Guitar, Tenor Guitar, and Mandolin. For this release show Christo will be joined by his Novelty Combo (Gian Compuesto - guitar, and Forrest Evans - upright bass). They presents a unique mixture of Jazz/Vaudeville era novelty infused hot Hawaiian steel guitar from the 1910s-30s blended with the swinging sounds of Django Reinhardt’s 1930s and 40s guitar-driven Hot Club jazz.
Based in Madison, WI, the award-winning husband and wife duo of Mary Gaines (cello, guitar, bass, vocals) and Chris Wagoner (violin, mandolins, lapsteel, ukulele, guitar, accordion, vocals) play an eclectic mix of Americana—original and classic tunes ranging from folk to jazz, bluegrass to blues, honky-tonk and a little singer-songwriter on the side.
