Fermata Caesura, The Prairie Flowers
Doors 6:00PM / Show 7:00PM
$15
This is a seated show.
Combining the intimacy of chamber music with the power of rock, Fermata Caesura brings a power and honesty to each piece they perform. This union of traditional acoustic string instruments with modern songwriting structures creates a sound that can best be described as Chamber Rock.
Seeking to capture the vast and open sounds of the wilderness with every note, and combining those brush strokes with the kinetic energy of a modern life, the band approaches each song as a one-act play, giving each song a color and shape all its own.
The timbre of the string instruments intertwine with the powerful yet vulnerable vocals of Lisa Mazza Hamilton. Lisa's vocals can be commanding and fragile at once, and when combined with the honest and earthy vocals and guitar of Eli August, they create a compelling dynamic. Powerful support in the low end is provided by the upright bass played with both a modern pizzicato technique and classical bowed lines by Cody Davis. Soaring melodies and unearthly voices come from the cello played masterfully by Thillman Benham.
Fermata Caesura’s Sophomore album is out now.
