Forro fo Sho (forro=Fo-HAW) has been introducing the exciting dance rhythms of Northeastern Brazil to Midwestern American audiences since 2015. Under the leadership of accordionist/vocalist Brendan Loula, who started the band while studying ethnomusicology as the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Forro fo Sho has gone from playing to single-digit crowds in libraries and restaurants to animating large crowds in some of the more popular venues of Madison and neighboring cities. With the accordion and voice as base accompanied by saxophone wails and lullabies, the added harmony and groove of the 4-stringed cavaquinho, the constant ringing pulse of the triangle, and the deep bass and high rim shots of the bass-drum like zabumba, Forro fo Sho's sound is a mix of exciting folk sounds and cosmopolitan grooves. Their music is ideal to listen to while sipping a cocktail on a hot summer night, or for heating up the dance floor with forro steps or whatever moves you want to bring to the party. Vem forrozear com a gente!/Come party with us!

Grupo Balança is a Madison-based Brazilian music ensemble that plays a style of music called samba pagode (pronounced pah-GO-gee).  This music consists of a small group of singers, percussion and plucked instruments.  It is very fast and exuberant pop music originating in Rio but popular throughout Brazil, with roots stemming from traditional drum lines. Staffed by top-tier musicians from groups such as the Handphibians, Samba Novistas, and Madison Choro Ensemble,  Grupo Balança puts on a great show that is not to be missed!
