This is a seated show.
Combining a wintry longing with the warmth of a familiar folktale, Humbird stretches between experimental folk and environmental Americana to embrace the unexpected. This music invites a refreshing dissonance into the house, it leaves bread crumbs along the path and reflects light back at the stars. Humbird’s debut album Pharmakon (Aug. 2019) is a “...an absolutely hypnotic listening experience” according to Folk Alley. Atwood Magazine describes it as music wrapped in “gentle rebellion”.
Sprig of That is a tabla, violin, and acoustic guitar trio playing original music. Since 2018, they’ve toured the country, playing legendary venues from Minneapolis’ Cedar Cultural Center to New York City’s Rockwood Music hall, opening for artists like Charlie Parr, and partnering with organizations like Carnegie Hall Minnesota Public Radio to present dozens of school workshops. In December of 2021, they recorded their debut album of original material (due out fall 2022) at Nashville’s legendary Sound Emporium studios with producer Wes Corbett (Sam Bush, Joy Kill Sorrow) and engineer Dave Sinko (Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, Punch Brothers). Sprig’s 2021 “Eight Threads” project saw them release an album of commissioned music from eight different Twin Cities-based music makers along with an accompanying podcast series. Hailing from different musical upbringings, the trio distills a wide range of musical interests into a cohesive and joyful sound that is constantly evolving.
