Jeff Burkhart with Jane Hobson, Andy Moore

Jeff Burkhart

Doors 6:30PM / Show 7:30PM

$10 ADV / $12 DOS

This is a seated show.

Jeff Burkhart is a songwriter and performer whose songs explore how we get by, the wonder of the cosmos and the power of distant memory. Growing up in small town Indiana, he cut class to find adventures on the backroads, bounced around in North Carolina for a couple of years, then landed in Madison WI, where he found many great musical collaborators in various bands playing locally and regionally at coffeeshops, barrooms, taverns and outdoor festivals.

The Dirty Shirts’ album Two-Dollar Turpentine is a Madison honky-tonk classic made up of his original songs. His latest album Just a Kid was recorded solo during the Omicron surge of late 2021 and early 2022 in a beautifully open old warehouse on the near eastside of Madison.

Jane Hobson is a singer-songwriter from Madison, Wisconsin. She recently graduated from Oberlin College, where she studied English, and played in a rock band, The Hobgoblins. Jane grew up playing music with her father, the drummer of the pioneering grunge band, Killdozer, and still enjoys jamming alongside him. Jane released her first solo album, “Early College,” in February of 2021 and a single called, “Out Loud,” in May of 2022. She produced music videos for the tracks “Talk Back to Me” and “Out Loud,” which are available for streaming on YouTube.

While always a musician, Andy Moore began his performing career in Madison in comedy as a member of the Improvisational Ark, the same company that produced Joan Cusack and Chris Farley. He was an original member and guitarist for over ten years with Madison's bluegrass legends, Cork n' Bottle String Band. He played banjo and guitar in the mountain music ensemble Winn Dixie from 2009 to 2017. Along the way he sat in on baritone saxophone with bands including Cribshitter, VO-5, and Jeff Burkhart's Gram Parsons tribute project. He's currently a member and banjoist with Disaster Passport, an instrumental quartet that recomposed and performs their live soundtrack to the art film Koyaanisqatsi.
