New Heirloom is a musical group formed from a deep appreciation for the compositions of Dave Weast, Dan Weast, and Tom Sheedy in their project Guy Walks In. Growing up listening to their ever-growing library of thought-provoking songs, guitarist/vocalist McCartney (Mac) Weast fell in love with the music and the stories they told, fundamentally connecting him to their experiences. Wanting to share their musings with the world, Mac performed their songs in adolescence while developing his own artistic voice, leading to the formation of New Heirloom years later - repertoire consisting of a combination of reimagined heirloom songs and three of Mac’s songs.
Also infected with the magic of these stories, Mac’s childhood friends and bandmates, vocalist Luna Pluer and pianist Mark Goodden, helped initiate New Heirloom and invited drummer and mastering engineer Will Bailey to join. Bassist Connor Sheedy was the final missing puzzle piece of the band. Like Mac, Connor grew up as a member of the family, internalizing their music as his father Tom recorded and produced Dave and Dan, remaining as close as brothers throughout the years.
New Heirloom’s debut album, The Rue Dôme, is a selection of songs from Dave accompanied by new songs from Mac, Dan, and Luna. With Mark’s experience in bandleading, these songs were arranged collaboratively by the five members, taking their time to pay tribute to the artistry in the original versions while not feeling tethered to exact regurgitations. Finally, engineer Joshua Alley took great care to record, produce, and mix these tunes with focused direction from Will and Mark in a way that brought the stylistic vision fully to life - even recording ambient samples on his own time which texturize the soundscapes including smashing a lead bathtub and the peaceful sound of crickets.
LadySlipper is a three-piece folk a capella group, named after the native orchid of the Midwest. With original compositions and a debut album on the way, LadySlipper celebrates the power of women’s voices — raw, resonant, and rooted. Whether performing in echoing barns or intimate rooms, their music carries a sense of belonging that feels timeless, tender and true.
