The Cherry Pit© performs theatrical, Vaudeville inspired originals, steeped in Blues and Soul, and pushed forward by improvisation. This eclectic mix of original material, composed and performed by Leo Dreis, with a New Orleans X Hungarian Classical style at the piano, intertwined with bluesy vocal delivery akin to Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Dr. John.

 On the bass guitar, Owen Reinders brings his unique texture of funk and soul inspired pockets. He is the foundation upon which the songs exist.

 On vocals, Sasha Dreis and Teresa Pepa Asumu, both layering their voices into the music with youthful tenacity, and beautifully vocalizing their lyrics into touching moments of touching synchronicity.

Playing the drum kit, Preston Carr is as versatile as they come. Whether playing Pop/ Funk with his own band "Jenny 123", Blues with "Jason Vargas and The Apollos" or whipping up original music on a DAW as a producer, Carr brings a solidity and maturity far beyond his years to the music.

The Cherry Pit© is a group of rotating performers, and there are often many guest appearances, this gives it a feeling of an old fashioned Revue, or carnival of travelling musicians. Born out of jam sessions; players from The Cherry Pit Collective© carry on traditions from great Madison educators such as;

Hanah Jon Taylor, Leotha Stanley, Wilder Deitz and Zach Watson. The American tradition of Jazz music, meaning listening, improvisation, shedding, empathy, sensitivity, jam sessions, standard tunes, are all great influences on The Cherry Pit© culture as well.
