Michael Darling is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Madison, WI. Inspired by contemporary artists like Perfume Genius, Lana Del Rey, and Father John Misty, Michael blends elements of indie pop and folk-rock to create a reflective, emotional sound that is uniquely his own.

A child of two musicians, Michael has been immersed in music his whole life. He grew up on the drums, and added singing, guitar, and piano to his repertoire over the years. He has played in jazz ensembles, produced chip tune music for his own video games, and played originals and covers alike at various venues in Madison.

Michael draws his musical ideas from the tiniest moments. They’re the things we all feel but never talk about: the first flicker of insecurity in a budding relationship; the burnout we face between paying our bills and pursuing our passions. Michael’s main goal in songwriting is to remind listeners that they are never alone in their experiences.

Michael is currently wrapping up the mix and music video for a new single, playing shows in the Madison area, and recording parts for his debut album.
